Microsoft Outlook makes it easy to add Axigen email accounts. Follow these steps to set up your account on Outlook (desktop) or Outlook on the web.
Setup Steps for Outlook Desktop (Windows or Mac)
1. Open Outlook and Go to Account Settings
- Launch Microsoft Outlook.
- Click File > Add Account (or Outlook > Preferences on Mac).
- Enter your full email address and click Connect.
2. Let Outlook Auto-Detect (Recommended)
Outlook will attempt to auto-discover your server settings. If successful, just enter your password and you're done.
If auto-detection fails, click Advanced Options and select Manual Setup to enter server details.
3. Manual Configuration (If Needed)
Select IMAP as the account type (recommended for multi-device sync).
| Setting | Value |
|---------|-------|
| Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) | mail.yourdomain.com (your provider's hostname) |
| Port | 993 |
| Encryption Method | SSL/TLS |
| Incoming Username | Your full email address |
| Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) | mail.yourdomain.com (your provider's hostname) |
| Outgoing Port | 587 |
| Outgoing Encryption Method | STARTTLS or SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing Username | Your full email address |
| Password | Your email account password |
4. Choose How Outlook Manages Folders
Outlook will ask how to handle your mail folders. Select Sync email for the past 2 weeks or choose a timeframe that works for you.
5. Test the Connection
Click Finish. Outlook will test your connection and download your inbox. If successful, your account is ready to use.
Setup for Outlook on the Web
If your provider hosts Outlook on the web (webmail):
- Visit your webmail portal URL (e.g.,
https://mail.yourdomain.com). - Log in with your full email address and password.
- No additional setup is needed—your email is ready to use in the browser.
If Authentication Fails
- Verify your email address: Use the full address (e.g.,
user@yourdomain.com), not just the username. - Check your password: Make sure it's correct; Outlook caps-locks are enabled by default in the password field.
- Verify the mail server hostname with your provider if you're unsure.
- Check port accessibility: Some networks block SMTP port 587. Ask your network administrator if needed.
Sending Issues?
If you can receive email but can't send:
- Verify your SMTP server address is correct.
- Confirm Require Authentication is enabled for outgoing mail.
- Try port 465 (SSL) instead of 587 (STARTTLS).
Syncing Across Devices
IMAP keeps your email in sync across Outlook, web clients, and mobile devices. Deleted emails and folder changes appear everywhere automatically. To prevent accidental loss, archive old emails to a local folder on your computer rather than permanently deleting them.
